Unlike Walter Block, I am not a proponent of evolutionary psychology. Thus, I imagine Professor Block is more intrigued by Robin Hanson's 2002 paper titled "Why Health is Not Special: Errors in Evolved Bioethics Intuitions" than I. Hanson is an assistant professor of economics at George Mason University.
"This essay has presented a plausible evolutionary-psychology account intended to explain an important component of the origin of those intuitions concerning health care." The intuitions Hanson refers to in this quote are the "strong common moral intuitions about health care." As usual, these intuitions are pro-aggression and statist and unjust.
I frankly lost interest in this essay after the introduction. I then read the conclusion, which basically concurs with the plumbline libertarian position promoted in the LIBERTARIAN BIOETHICS BLOG. Please peruse this article at your leisure, if only to gain the approval of the eminent Professor Block.
