"The Biological Basis of Ethics" is the title of the 2nd chapter of the original edition of Peter Singer's The Expanding Circle. The author provides empirical evidence of a biological basis for human ethics. He also broaches the concept of non-human animal rights by asserting that human efforts "to draw sharp lines between ourselves and other animals have always failed." Really?
